If you’ve been living on another planet, you’ve probably been alien to the attractive and endearing trailer, danceable tracks and super awesome cast of Dharma Productions’ latest outing, Kapoor & Sons. Bringing together three of the most desirable faces in Hindi films along with three stellar veterans into a family that puts the fun in dysfunctional, here’s why you just HAVE TO watch Shakun Batra’s latest film in theatres…
Trendy trio
When your lead actors are the three most loved faces on screen, you’ve got a winner on your hands already. And Kapoor & Sons promises exactly that with Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra coming together. They’ve wowed us with their antics during promotions, they look electric on screen and they all come with their own unique characteristics – Alia brings the quirk, Fawad brings the intensity and Sidharth is the prince of cool. What’s more, seeing Alia and Fawad paired together for the first time and Alia and Sidharth returning opposite each other after their debut in Student of the Year, will be a treat in itself.
Ensemble, ahoy!
An ensemble film with strong actors across the board is one to watch out for. And this film has three heavyweights to fit the bill. From the powerhouse Ratna Pathak Shah and the charming Rajat Kapoor to the inimitable Rishi Kapoor, there’s plenty of dynamism to watch out for. And guessing from the glimpses we’ve seen of their characters so far, each one is sure to bring performances we can’t help fall in love with.
Take two
The combination of director Shakun Batra and producer Karan Johar returns post Shakun’s directorial debut Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, which was a hit with the audiences and trade pundits. And lightning may not strike the same place twice but this duo is set on repeating the feat from 2012.
Badass beats
The music of Kapoor & Sons quite literally sets the tone of the film. Right from the romantic Bolna and Saathi Re to the groovy Kar Gayi Chull and Let's Nacho and even the oh-so adorable Buddhu Sa Mann. The collaboration of artists like Badshah, Nucleya, Benny Dayal, Armaan and Amaal Mallik and many more, makes it a treat for music fans.
Family forever
Through Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, Dharma Productions and Karan Johar taught us, in the most entertaining way possible, that it's all about loving your parents. 15 years later, Kapoor & Sons reminds us that no matter the ups and the downs, there will always and only be family to fall back on, regardless of the disagreements within. In brotherhood and fraternity is true love and the essence of life and that's something we can't wait to experience.
